The Spoof George Michael Diaries

Dear Diary – Patience? Surely not.

When I woke up this morning it was still dark. This could, of course, have something to do with the fact that it was raining, the sky was nearly black, but it confused me for a minute or ten, before I looked at my watch and realised it was ten to one. PM. So I got up and already knew I’d forgotten something. I tried to remember what it was. Looked around for clues. No luck.

By the time I’d had lunch in bed and watched Kenny do his push-ups and sit-ups, my mind was brought back to this thing I was supposed to remember. I looked at my calendar. 15 March. A date that never really meant anything to me before, nobody I know gets a year older, nobody I know who’s getting married, so I thought, “What can be so important that I couldn’t forget it?”

Then it dawned on me. It had to be payday for my staff. I took out my check book and realised I’d paid everyone 15 days ago. So it couldn’t be that. I put on my new album, “Patience” that only a few selected medias have been privileged to listen to previously, but realised I should check in with my favourite radio station, Capital. Or was it Magic? (Heart?) (MiddleOfTheRoadBollocks.FM?) Whatever, so I checked in with Capital and heard Foxy say “This is a track from the new George Michael album, “Patience” called “American Angel”. I thought it was kind of weird that he played A.A. instead of “Amazing” that is, after all, amazing, but also the single.

I sat through the whole song, bounced about a bit, and waited for Foxy to announce today’s “guess that sound” when he said, “That was American Angel from Patience that’s available in stores today.” Oh s***, f***, bugger, bollocks! I checked my mobile. It had 72 missed calls on it. 68 of them were Sony, obviously wanting me for something. I checked my voicemail and realised I had a little over ten angry messages from the Sony office, asking why the hell I wasnt down there as planned for 1pm.

Whops!

So I put the dog in the car, sped out of the drive, the dog hanging on for dear life in the back, giving me a “what are you DOING!?” look in the mirror, and as I screeched past a couple of cars (why the hell do they park on the side of the road!?)(Get your own goddamn parking space!!!)(Jeez!) I realised I should probably get changed and put some clothes on if I was to see people. Needless to say, I had to go back, jumped into some crap from Gap and once again started my journey. Abbey refused to come with me, so I was left on my own, being a bit of a racing driver (I usually don’t do that other than at night)(When I listen to my new songs in the BMW), speeding across a red(?) light and eventually ending up at the Sony offices.

As I entered, the whole bunch literally met me in the door, half of them fuming and Gary giving me a what sounded like rehearsed speech about how they value appointments and, most importantly, keeping them.

*Sigh* Turned out it was too late anyway, so I could have saved myself the trip and stayed in bed instead. How do normal people stick to this routine of sleeping at night and waking up in the morning anyway?
